Attack on America

You have entered the "demo section" for FMN (Financial Management Network). In light of the recent tragedy, SmartPros has decided to allow non-subscribers to view these segments in their entirety. It is our way of contributing, as so many others have, to making information available related to the disaster. These two segments discuss the financial impact and security issues associated with the September 11th attack.

All you need to do is sign in to participate in these segments: Accounting for Recent Losses and Safeguarding Your Assets.

Attack on America: Accounting for Recent Losses.
Tim Lucas, Chairman of the Emerging Issues Task Force (EITF), explains the basis for the controversial decision on how costs and expenses stemming from the terrorist attacks should be treated. The decision has surprised many of the corporate professionals in companies directly or indirectly affected by the disaster.

Attack on America: Safeguarding Your Assets
Alan Brill, Senior Managing Director and Technologist at Kroll, the world renowned security firm, explains why he and other security experts believe that tech savvy terrorists can and indeed may do serious damage to corporate assets, beginning with information systems. Mr. Brill describes what corporate financial executives can do to safeguard their business' most important assets.

At SmartPros, we share in the sorrow felt by millions of Americans across the country. The attacks, and their repercussions, have affected us all, and brought about a quantum shift in the way we perceive our fundamental rights and security.
